Does this game have any real lastability?

As much as i love this game and looked forward to it for years, I'm already starting to see the signs of boredom appearing.

Yes there are hundreds of abilities to pick from, but you can only have 7 on your toolbar, which might be alright for console trash but it's pretty lame for a mmorpg. Unfortunately of those 7 abilities 90% of the time you're only clicking 3 of them, your best builder attack and your 2 finishers.

Attacks and heals seem really weak, so instead of doing a big damage hit every few seconds you're instead giving yourself carpel tunnel syndrome by spamming the heck out of your 3 keys for little nugget sized portions of damage/healing every second.

Monsters are just tiresome once you hit blue mountain and then onwards, there's nothing like spending 2 minutes tapping 1, 2 and 3 on your keyboard over and over and over again for a good time. And the builders and finishers under different weapons and trees are really just small variations of the same thing.

As far as "pvp" or in this game's case zvz (zerg versus zerg) goes it's really really terrible. There's so many people allowed in the 3 warzones, the end result is just swarms of players steamrolling smaller swarms of players and those silly enough to leave the safety of their own team's swarm.

Where's the dynamic environment? Where's the skill? Where's the fun? And without those, where's the lastability?

The game's interesting lore can only carry it so far.

I'd like to see some things change:
    - add duels
    - add arenas
    - add small warzones like 2 vs 2 vs 2 and 3 vs 3 vs 3
    - add decent abilities that do significant amounts of damage with long cast and moderate reuse times so people can have viable decks of 7 abilities with cooldowns instead of just spamming builders and finishers.
    - let us have 10 active abilities instead of 7, just a small increase but it will help add some variety (leave passives at 7 for balance)
    - add a new server that is open world rvr, no lore fanatics allowed (as a server that is open world pvp may be against the lore code) just players who enjoy pvp'ing.

If you are asking, if the game presented today and not changed would it last? The question is no, it would not last, for the reasons you have stated. I agree with your statements.

But I also see the brilliance in the game. The investigation guests, the platforming in sabotage missions, the way synergy works within the skill system. The non-linear skill trees, and the way you can not only go back and do missions, but the way you can spend your exp on whatever you enjoy.

Its got potential, so much potential, but as you say boredom comes on rather quickly.

I was all excited, I got my new single target weapon point builder, to discover that it wasn't any really different then the first one I had. Slightly different graphics, and a whole 5 point increase on my damage.

Then I fell in love with Impairing targets, 3 seconds wasn't enough to really break the game, but it was enough to interrupt skills. Only to find out that half the mobs are immune to Impairing. So I looked, to realize that many of the mobs are designed for your DPS to kill. Penetration and Affliction are KING, and I can build so many more synergies off of penetration and affliction, then over Impairment anyway.

And lets talk healing. I love the way that mana plays no role in this game, but healing has become a spam fest. 11111211111211111231111112111111211111123... over and over and over again. And the barriers are usually popped on the first or second hit giving me zero time to rest even with barriers in place.

So I love this game, I think its brilliant. It's just not really exciting.

But its very fixable. Balance the skills out a bit (I said BALANCE not NERF) and smooth out the mob progression a bit (or better yet smooth out the quest balance (Ie what is a normal, hard, very hard etc etc) mission.

as much as I like this game it will suffer the same problem as all other games... this generation is used to games coming out with such frequency they have almost no patience ... if Funcom doesn't regularly put out new content gamers get board fast and move on no matter how unique the game is... should be as big of a problem here since this was meant to be a nitche game from the get go but still will happen

Game has enough for 1-2 months of regular play, or 2-3 months of slowly casual play.

So if this was all the content and strategy we are to have, then there's only enough to last the game for several months tops.

So Funcom better have patches every 1-2 months, that don't just include dungeons/introduce raids/add a PvP area, but rather expend the game and story and combat as we know it. Otherwise, yes, the locust players will be bored and leave

I know there's enough to cover me for my 2 months (Master Pack), but I don't know about after that. If there are no content patches by then, I'll just leave and play GW2/Rift: Storm Legion as primary games, but if there are 1-2 very nice patches, then we'll see

Regardless, I plan so far to check in, whenever there is an expansion to the *story* and *major gameplay features* (especially main story continuation). New dungeons in themselves won't be enough though, and will just be a perk to me if/when I return.

So basically you have no idea of how the game works, what the design ideals behind the game were, what the devs are trying to do with the game, and instead of trying to find this out you want it turned into another game entirely.

    Well good luck with that.

Yeah I'm not all ADD about it, but my view is that if I can go through every mission/dungeon with one of each faction, I've then 'won the game' for now, and can unsub.

So the idea is for Funcom to make/release new significant content for players by the time most of them do most of the content. If there isn't a nice patch out by the middle of August, I'd be surprised. If there isn't a nice patch with more story (seeing as this is a story based MMO that isn't bound by the content production limitations that TOR has) by September, I'll be VERY surprised and even dismayed.

I have just gotten to the point where my quest asks me to go to Blue mountain so i cant say much about the monsters there.

But even if i do have worries of my own that the game is great now i will find my self being disapointed and bored when it comes to "end game" where i have no more new quests to do,and no new areas to explore and all i can do is spam for groups to get some better gear. I do hope this wont be the case tho and i think the company also realize that this is something they need to avoid early on to make sure the game succeds.
Trust me i do hope they will.. I know many have said the same thing but this game has truly been a breath of fresh air for me,and even if i have been a faithful EVE player for the past 7 years i find my self enjoying having something new to do that still has that dark atmosphere EVE has.

I also know that because the game is so dark they will most likely never draw a larger amount of players. But this is also a good thing. It draws the older more mature players and the general impatient WOW player (no offense to anyone) does not have the patience to adapt to a system like TSW has. This is also where "skill" comes in... The fact that it only allows you to use these few abileties will eventually force you to really learn how to play. You cant just smash some random buttons and watch things die. Ofc you can make it easy and sit and wait for someone else to write a skill guide for you,but honestly part of the enjoyment should be figuring these things out for your self and find skills and a rotation that YOU enjoy, not one that others say you should enjoy. This also comes to the combat (PVE). Is it possible that the fights are slow for you because you dont have a good rotation? Or think about weather or not your paying attention to the creatures special abileties and recistanses. I know i read something along the lines of ghosts around that area changes their abileties and recistanses every 30 seconds or so which made them tougher to beat..but again you just need to pay attention.

Short version..So far i love this game, but im also realistic enough to not say that its THE game to play until there is more news on what they are planning to do,and i have seen more of the game my self. But in the meantime im not going to rush trough anything and i will enjoy the story, the atmosphere and the exploring along the way
